Will a Microsoft Fingerprint Reader work for logging in to my computer or just stuff on the Internet?
I want to get one but I don’t know if it will work for logging in on the welcome screen of my computer or if I have to type that in.
Yes, it will work with the login screen. Also, you may want to download firefox if you are using it on the internet.
There is a plugin called “FingerFox” or something similar to it. It will allow you to save passwords online and just push your finger onto the reader and boom! It enters your password automatically AND username I must add!
There is a little hint that I think I should give you though, you will have to click on the little icon in the status bar for it when you want it to work for the first time, and check the box that says “Automatically pop up” Then, when you want to enter your password and username, STOP. Put your finger on the reader and it will come up with another window. This will let you put in your password.
This is what happens:
1. When you go to a website, the window box appears for your password/username.
2. You put your finger on the reader
3. It reads it, and it is automatically entered from the driver/program FOR THE FINGERPRINT reader itself, all the fingerfox does is allows your fingerprint and username/password to all be connected.
I have not found another method to use it online, so this is your best bet. I like them a lot. I think they are a very handy invention that allows lazy people(Like me!) to keep their passwords straight and just put your finger on it..boom..everything is done for you!
I recommend buying one. Microsoft sells some good ones. Try ebay for that. I got mine off of there, it works like a charm.
Good luck!
